Brownback: Sales tax rate may not be lowered

The state sales tax rate is scheduled to dip from 6.3 percent to 5.7 percent in July 2013.

However, today Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback did not rule out the possibility of keeping the 6.3 percent rate following the expiration date.

From the Associated Press:
Brownback said Wednesday that the state could see a temporary dip in revenues because of massive income tax cuts enacted earlier this year.

Supporters of the cuts believe they'll spur economic growth, but Brownback acknowledged there will be a lag.
