Spring KCKCC entrepreneuership class orientations

You too can own and operate your own business and Kansas City Kansas Community  College will provide the necessary skills and tools to do so through its “Operation Jumpstart – the First Step” class which will begin in March.

But first there’s a free orientation required of all participants – one on Tuesday, Jan. 29, and another on Tuesday, Feb. 12. Both will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Room 2325 of the Jewell Center on the KCKCC campus at 7250 State Avenue. Registration for either of the two orientations can be made by calling 816-786-3959.

Designed for persons wanting to own their own business, the first of 11 sessions of the First Step Entrepreneurship class will be held Saturday, March 2, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The remaining sessions will be held on nine successive Tuesdays starting March 5 from 6-9 p.m. In addition, there will be one Saturday class April 20 from 9 a.m.-3  p.m.

Facilitated by Judy Bumpus of Bloom Business Consulting, the training series will both evaluate a business concept and develop a feasibility plan.

In addition to hearing dynamic guest speakers and entrepreneurs, participants will write a feasibility study for their business concept and work with highly skilled business coaches who will assist in developing those plans.

Step-by-step activities, worksheets and in-depth information are also provided in a participant workbook.

Normally priced at $395, the class is being offered for $75.

Offered through the Kansas Small Business Development Center in partnership with Workforce Development at KCKCC, the KCK Area Chamber of Commerce and First National Bank, persons can register by contacting Judy Bumpus at 816-786-3959 or judybumpus@att.net.
