Winter storm warning in effect: 6-10 inches of snow expected for Kansas City area

The National Weather Service, as of this afternoon, is still predicting a significant snow storm to hit the Kansas City metro area.

A winter storm warning is in effect from midnight tonight to midnight Thursday. Most of the action is expected to occur early Thursday morning.

More information from the National Weather Service:
* SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...6 TO 10 INCHES. THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS WILL BE NORTH OF INTERSTATE 70.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW AND SLEET WILL HAVE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS ON TRAVEL. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS MAY EXCEED AN INCH PER HOUR AT TIMES.

* OTHER IMPACTS...FREEZING DRIZZLE MAY MIX IN AT TIMES... ESPECIALLY THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
