Winter storm warning issued for Kansas City

It's all a formality now, I guess.

A winter storm warning has been issued for the greater Kansas City metro area.

Here's the latest information and forecast from the National Weather Service:
* TIMING...SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN MONDAY EVENING AND PERSIST THROUGH THE DAY TUESDAY. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED LATE MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY MORNING. THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY DIMINISH BY MIDDAY TUESDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...WIDESPREAD AMOUNTS OF AT LEAST 6 TO 10 INCHES ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE WARNING AREA. HEAVIER AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE KANSAS CITY METROPOLITAN AND POINTS WEST SOUTHWEST WARD WITH ACCUMULATIONS UP TO AND POSSIBLY EXCEEDING 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE.

* IMPACTS...STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS UP TO 30 MPH...COMBINED WITH MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL... WILL RESULT IN NEAR WHITEOUT CONDITIONS BY TUESDAY MORNING... LEADING TO SNOWPACKED ROADS AND HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS.
