The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department is investigating a house fire at 2614 Armstrong Ave.

Firefighters reported to the scene of the fire shortly after 2:20 a.m. Friday morning. When arriving on the scene, they discovered the fire near the rear of the one-story home in the area.

Neighbors told firefighters that two people may have been in the house. However, after multiple searches, no one was found.

Attacking the fire became complicated after a portion of the roof collasped in the home.

"Crews had to evacuate when the fire extended into the attic area and the roof collapsed," said Craig Duke, Battalion Chief of the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department. "The fire was under control within 45 minutes."

No one was hurt in the fire.

A fire investigator was called out to the scene, Duke said.
