The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department is investigating a suspicious fire at a vacant home at 335 N. Valley.

Firefighters raced to the scene just after 8 a.m. Thursday morning. When they arrived on the scene, they found the entire house on fire.

"Crews performed an interior attack until informed of roof collapsing," said Craig Duke, battalion chief of the KCK Fire Department. "Crews had to back out and fight fire defensively from exterior, preventing spread of fire to adjacent structures."

After 40 minutes, the fire was under control.

No one was hurt in the fire. About $20,000 worth of damage was done to a home.

According to Duke, the department is investigating the fire as suspicious.
