Five hits and five RBIs from the duo of Kennard Jones and Felix Molina propelled the Kansas City T-Bones to a 9-4 victory over the Sioux City Explorers on Monday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
Jones and Molina, who represented the one and nine spots in the lineup, respectively, were instrumental in Kansas City’s eight runs in the second and third innings.
Jones would finish the night four for five with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Molina’s three-run shot over the right-field wall scored three in the third inning.
“Everybody contributed tonight,” said T-Bones manager Kenny Hook. “That’s the type of lineup we envisioned when we put this club together, so when they’re all going at the same time on the same night, it’s fun to watch.”
Aaron Meade (2-1) pitched six complete innings for Kansas City, striking out four batters and allowing seven hits. Dustin Loggins entered the game for Meade in the seventh and retired every batter he faced. Ethan Cole closed out the game for the T-Bones in the ninth.
The T-Bones racked up 15 hits and eight runs over 6 1/3 innings against Explorers starter Andy Noga (1-3). Noga made way for reliever Jon Plefka in the seventh inning, who surrendered one run and two hits. Every T-Bones player accounted for either a hit or an RBI.
Kansas City continues its homestand Tuesday night at 7:05 against the Explorers. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618 or at tbonesbaseball.com.
