Lemurs down T-Bones in series opener

LAREDO, Texas – The adage of one team scoring more in one inning than its opponent scores in the game held true Monday night as Laredo used a three-run inning to jump ahead of Kansas City as the Lemurs went on to win the series opener, 4-2.

With the game scoreless, the Lemurs scored three in the second inning, thanks largely to five consecutive singles.

As has been the case in previous games between the two clubs this season, tensions rose in the second as Kansas City’s Jairo Perez was ejected after arguing a call when Laredo's Garrett Rau seemed to intentionally try to knock down pitcher Ethan Cole (0-4) on a play at the plate.

Kansas City got its offense started in the third inning when Petey Paramore connected on his first home run of the season.

Two innings later, Laredo got the run back when John Allen knocked in former T-Bones player Jimmy Mojica, who led off the inning with a single.

Kansas City scored its final run in the sixth, when Matt Padgett drove in Devin Goodwin, who tripled and extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Kansas City (25-38) and Laredo (35-27) are scheduled to play game two of the three-game series on Tuesday night at 7:30 at Uni-Trade Stadium.
