Loggins, Kansas City dust off Saltdogs in series finale

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – A night after a 10-inning victory, Kansas City took the series from Lincoln behind a solid start from Dustin Loggins in an 8-1 win over the Saltdogs on Wednesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Kansas City opened the scoring with a five-run third inning, which included a two-run homer from Petey Paramore. Lincoln starter Moises Melendez (3-4) walked three batters in the big inning — all three scoring — adding to the T-Bones run support. The T-Bones sent seven to the plate in the inning.

The Saltdogs remained scoreless through four innings until Sean O’Connell scored the only run for Lincoln in the fifth inning. Lincoln would end the game recording eight hits.

Petey Paramore, who had the walk-off homer on Tuesday, went two for four on the night with a home run and two RBIs.

Loggins (6-5) went six innings for Kansas City, allowing one unearned run on five hits with seven strikeouts. Making his Kansas City debut, Ryan Fennell entered in relief and threw two scoreless innings and allowed one hit.

After an off day Thursday, Kansas City (34-50) travels north of the border for a three-game series with Winnipeg (44-37) beginning Friday at 7:00.
