Lakeside Speedway results: Sept. 28

News Release:
KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Sept 28, 2013 – Aaron Marrant finished of the regular season in grand style by winning the USRA A-Modified feature. Marrant, who started fifth, initially had to find the fast way around Josh Everhart and then fend off Matt Dotson. Dotson, who led laps 12 – 17, would finish second, holding off 2013 champion, Nic Bidinger. Terry Schultz and 2012 champion, Tim Karrick, rounded out the top five.

Jake Richards made the best of a borrowed car in the USRA B-Modified feature by taking home his third trophy of the season. Starting fifth, the Edwardsville, KS driver needed seven of the 15 laps to get around early leaders, Kelby Ostrnader and Gene Claxton. Trying for a third victory in a row, Brad Smith wasn’t able to work through the field in time to mount a challenge, finishing second. Aaron Marrant, Yancy Shepard and Mike Higley rounded out the top-five.

The Grand National feature, for the second week in a row, found a first time winner in victory lane. This week it was 15-year old Austin Johnson besting the field after their 15-lap event. Johnson made good use to the top-side of the track to edge out last week’s first-time winner, Donnie Brown, who ran second the entire race. Marshall Jewett and Gary Donaldson, who finished third and fourth, respectively, remaining in striking distance should either Johnson or Brown bobble. Jim Baker rounded out the top-five.

The Factory Stock feature looked like a repeat of nine other features this year as 2013 Champion, Brett Heeter, worked his way from mid-pack to take the lead toward the end of the event. Tonight Heeter needed the first nine circuits to take the lead from Joe Smith, Jr. Smith would end up third as Darrin Christy got by him on the last lap. Justin Siefert and Bobby Tavis rounded out the top-five.

“Racing on the River’s Edge” continues this Wednesday, October 2nd, through Saturday, October 5th as the Lucas Oil MLRA Late Models and USMTS Modifieds invade Lakeside speedway.
