PHOTO: Truck damages I-70 bridge on 72nd Street


Note from Kansas Department of Transportation:
As of 11:10 p.m. TONITE, Thursday, October 3, eastbound I-70 left lane ONLY at the 72nd Street bridge in Kansas City, KS (Wyandotte County) NOW OPEN to traffic, two right lanes of eastbound I-70 at 72nd Street bridge STILL CLOSED for continued cleanup work and inspection of damaged bridge structure.

Eastbound I-70 has been closed since 8:30 p.m. this evening for cleanup work on the damaged bridge structure. A dump truck with raised bed hit the bridge structure underneath the bridge deck. See photo of damaged bridge structure below.

We will let you know when the eastbound I-70 roadway fully reopens to all traffic.
