Adventures in Learning to be held Friday, November 15 at Grace Lutheran

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Adventures in Learning, a program of the Shepherd’s Center of KCK, will take place on Friday, November 15 at Grace Lutheran, 3333 Wood Avenue.

The building offers entry-level parking and easy drop off of both people and equipment. Everyone is welcome to attend part or all of the day’s activities. The schedule for Friday, November 15 is:

9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Health Screenings (no cost)

Blood sugar and blood pressure checks provided by Delores Homes LLC.

9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Registration and Fellowship

Refreshments available while you meet & greet.

10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Travelogue: Bolivia – video presentation by Mabel Shutt,

Issues Forum: Major Vince Davenport, KCK Police Department; “Major Concerns

11:00 - 11:50 a.m. Workshops (choose one)

History: The National Debt – presented by Ed Shutt
Health: Making Sense of the Affordable Care Act – Mary Tritsch, AARP Kansas

12:00 Noon: Lunch—$4 or may bring your own

Menu: Chicken Tortilla, salad, chuck wagon corn, stewed apples, milk

Program: YOU ARE THE PROGRAM! Bring an item that helps you describe your  thankfulness as we enter this season of Thanksgiving!

Designed to celebrate and engage older adults, Adventures in Learning has been providing enrichment, fellowship and a noon meal for more than 27 years in Wyandotte County.

Adventures in Learning provides free morning health screenings, selections of informational and educational workshops, and lunch with an entertaining program.

These monthly programs are free and everyone is welcome to attend; join in one workshop or stay for the entire program. Lunch is served at noon for $4. Please call the Shepherd’s Center office at 913-281-8908 for more information.
