Charges filed in murder near City Hall

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- A Shawnee, Kan., resident has been charged with premeditated murder in the first degree in connection to the murder that happened outside City Hall in Kansas City, Kan.

Jeffrey W. Platt Jr. was charged by Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome Gorman on Friday. 

Platt is accused of killing Marlon Williams on January 16, 2014.

He's currently in custody in Wyandotte County Jail and is expected to make his first court appearance next Tuesday. His bond has been set at $1 million. 

He's presumed innocent until proven guilty.
