KANSAS CITY METRO TRAFFIC ALERT: I-35 & 18th Street/U.S. 69 Interchange Ramp Overhead Sign Mast Replacement Project

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- Northbound and southbound I-35 to 18th Street/U.S. 69 exit ramps will be CLOSED to all traffic overnight each day beginning on Monday, October 27 through late November 2014, weather permitting.

The ramps will be closed daily beginning at 7:00 p.m. and reopening to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. the following morning, seven days a week. The ramp closures are needed so crews can remove the existing overhead mast signs (located on the ramps themselves) and replace with new structures.

Advance message boards will alert traffic to the ramp closures. A marked detour provided. Northbound and southbound I-35 traffic will detour via northbound I-635 to eastbound I-70 back to southbound 18th Street/U.S. 69.

Drivers should expect minor delays during the overnight ramp closures and must use alternate routes during the ramp closures.

Updated daily traffic information for this interchange project and for the entire Kansas Metro Area can be viewed online at: www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.

The overall project is scheduled to be completed by late November 2014, weather permitting.
