Limited historic brand books are also available for sale to the public in hard copy format.
Kansas began recording brands in 1939, and from that time each application has been kept on file. As technology has advanced, applications are now available online, and previous applications have been saved electronically for state documentation.
The historical paper records are now available to the public for a limited time on a first come, first serve basis.
Ranchers with an interest in searching for specific active brands or brands available for registration may do so on the KDA website.
Ranchers can search for brands via character type, brand character and physical location of the brand. Search results will provide users with information such as availability of a brand or the owner of the existing brand.
Books from 1998, 2003 and 2008 are available for purchase at a discounted price. Items are limited and expected to sell out quickly.
To order these books, click here and select the online form specifying which book you would like to receive. The 2008 edition of the brand book is also available online in PDF format, along with annual supplements
