Carjacking suspect dead in Wyandotte County

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- An individual wanted for aggravated robbery was killed following a police chase that started in Wyandotte County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the pursuit began shortly after 9 a.m. on Friday following a carjacking in the area. It began in Edwardsville, Kan., crossed into Missouri and ended on Ruby Avenue in Kansas City, Kan., where the suspect was shot by officers at the scene.


NBC Action News reported that the suspect "jumped out of the vehicle" armed after crashing through a fence in the area.

Three Kansas City, Mo., police officers and one Kansas Highway Patrol trooper have been placed on administrative leave.

An internal investigation has also been launched.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said the investigation is an accordance to policy.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigations and the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department are conducting the investigation, according to a news release from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
