PHOTOS: "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" in Wyandotte County
By NICK SLOAN, NJSloan212@gmail.com
Chick-fil-A has become the hottest political issue in the United States.
That peaked today as the Chick-fil-A location at The Legends in Kansas City, Kan., was packed during lunch hours today.
When I was there shortly after 2 p.m., there were over 75 people waiting outside of the door. The 'drive-thru' lines were also packed, creating a minor traffic jam inside the Plaza at the Speedway.
Having talked to a few customers there earlier on the way out, they waited around an hour to be served.
The chain restaurant became embroiled in a controversy after COO Dan Cathy gave an interview regarding his business and his view on same-sex marriage.
"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit," Cathy said. "We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that."
Following the interview, supporters of same-sex marriage encouraged a boycott of Chick-fil-A.
After that, opponents of same-sex marriage rallied around the restaurant and former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee called for August 1 to be "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day."
Over 600,000 individuals pledged their support for Chick-fil-A in a Facebook page dedicated to the event.

Chick-Fil-A to host "Save Muncie Christian School" on Tuesday, Thursday
By NICK SLOAN, NJSloan212@gmail.com
The effort to secure $144,000 in donations in a short time is an uphill battle.
However, one Kansas City, Kan., business is hoping to help out the cause to save Muncie Christian School.
Chick-fil-A at The Legends, located at 10770 Parallel Parkway, will be hosting two "Save Muncie Christian School" spirit nights. Proceeds from sales made betwen 4 to 8 p.m. on both Tuesday and Thursday evenings will be donated to the effort to save the school.
Customers there to support Muncie are encouraged to tell the staff why they're there and mention SaveMCS.com, the Website dedicated towards the donation drive.
For more information about the Chick-Fil-A events, visit the Facebook page dedicated to the event here.
If Muncie Christian School is closed, 16 teachers would be without a job and 112 students who are enrolled for the 2012-13 school year would be left without a school.
