Philbrook to host Leavenworth Road town hall forum

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ---- Unified Government Commissioners Jane Philbrook will be hosting a Town Hall forum on the future of Leavenworth Road.

Trinity Community Church, located at 5010 Parallel Parkway, will host the forum on Oct. 15.

It begins with a meet and greet session with UG staff from 6-6:45 p.m. The forum itself begins at 6:45 p.m.

The future of the Leavenworth Road corridor will be the topic discussed at the forum.

Members of the community are welcomed and encouraged to bring their own ideas.

KANSAS CITY, KAN. --- Just like on Saturday morning, Sunday afternoon was a perfect day for a parade in Kansas City, Kan.

A day after the Central Avenue Parade was held, the Leavenworth Road Association's 2013 parade was held.

LRA parade set for Sept. 15

KANSAS CITY, KAN. --- The Leavenworth Road Association's parade will be held Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m.

Leavenworth Road Association to meet tonight

KANSAS CITY, KAN. --- The Leavenworth Road Association will meet tonight (September 10) at 6 p.m. Pot luck snacks will be available at the start, while the actual meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held at Trinity Community Church, located at 5010 Parallel Parkway.

A presentation about the Board of Public Utilities' Summer Youth Program is expected.

Wyandotte County Lake, Leavenworth Road Association to host Kids Fishing Derby

If you didn't get an opportunity to participate in the Kids Fishing Derby event at Big Eleven Lake a few weeks ago, make sure you mark your calendar for this next fishing event.

The Leavenworth Road Association in partnership with the Unified Government Parks and Recreation Department will host their annual Kids Fishing derby on June 9, 2012.

The event will be held at the kid's pond located by the boathouse parking lot on the west side of Wyandotte County Lake. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m.; derby begins at 8:00 a.m. and is over at 11:00 a.m.

The event is limited to Wyandotte County residents, 3-15 years old. An adult must accompany kids under age 10.

Each participant will receive free worms for fishing and a goody bag to take home.
