One person killed in crash on 63rd and Leavenworth Road; UPDATE - Seven-year-old confirmed as person killed

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- One person was killed during a police chase in Kansas City, Kan., Wednesday night.

The chase began at 63rd and Parallel Parkway at around 8:30 p.m. Police say a driver sped away following a normal traffic stop.

The chase ended up in a crash at 63rd and Leavenworth Road.

The Kansas Highway Patrol confirmed that one person was killed, but it's unknown whether it was the driver or someone else in the area.

Additional injuries have also been reported, but again information is limited.

UPDATE 10:46 a.m. : In a very sad turn for this story, a 7-year-old girl was killed as a result of the crash. Jasmine Rodriguez was riding in a second vehicle that was struck by the Chevy Impala that was being chased by police officers.

Tyrone Murphy, 27, was arrested by police after the crash. The mother of the daughter taken to the hospital. Her injuries are unknown at this time.
