KANSAS CITY METRO TRAFFIC ALERT: K-10 Project-Related Roadway Closures in Johnson County


KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- As there are a number of construction projects taking place currently on K-10 in Johnson County for both the Johnson County Gateway Project and for KDOT’s bridge repair projects, this Traffic Alert provides a brief summary of each project and its related traffic impacts. 

NOTE: Drivers should expect major delays during peak morning and evening commutes and are encouraged to use alternate routes, where possible.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.

K-10 & Renner Boulevard Interchange Area  
 
Eastbound and westbound K-10 in the Renner Boulevard interchange area will have varying lane closures daily for construction work on the new eastbound K-10 to northbound I-435 flyover ramp. Project work on the new flyover ramp is scheduled to be completed in summer 2015, weather permitting.

K-10 & Ridgeview Road Interchange Area  #jocogateway project

Eastbound and westbound K-10 in the Ridgeview Road interchange area will have varying daily lane closures daily for bridge widening work on the K-10 bridges over Ridgeview Road. Also, work is taking place to reconstruct the interchange to its final configuration of a diverging diamond interchange. Project work is scheduled to be completed in summer 2015, weather permitting.

K-10 over Cedar Creek Road Bridge Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late November 2014


Westbound K-10 over Cedar Creek Road Bridge will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE, 24/7 round the clock, for bridge repair work beginning on Wednesday, August 27. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late November 2014, weather permitting.

K-10 over Lexington Avenue, Kill Creek & Mill Creek Bridges Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in early December 2014


Eastbound and westbound K-10 over Lexington Avenue and Kill Creek bridges and eastbound K-10 over Mill Creek bridge will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE, 24/7 round the clock, for bridge repair work beginning as follows: 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6 (delayed closing due to weather), westbound K-10 lane over the Lexington Avenue and Kill Creek bridges will be CLOSED; 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7 (delayed closing due to weather), eastbound K-10 lane over the Lexington Avenue bridge lane will be CLOSED; and at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8 (delayed closing due to weather), eastbound K-10 lane over the Kill Creek and Mill Creek bridges will be CLOSED. 

In addition, the westbound K-10 to Lexington Avenue exit ramp will be CLOSED beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6,and the Lexington Avenue to eastbound K-10 entrance ramp will be CLOSED beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7 (delayed closing due to weather).

Both ramps will remain closed, 24/7 round the clock, through early to mid-November 2014. A marked detour will be provided as follows: Westbound K-10 traffic will take the Edgerton Road exit to loop around and head back on eastbound K-10 to the Lexington Avenue exit. Lexington Avenue traffic will head westbound on K-10 to the Edgerton Road exit and then loop around to head back on eastbound K-10. Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in early December 2014, weather permitting.
