Gorman charges two in connection to Suntree homicide

News Release

Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome A. Gorman filed murder charges in connection with the June 11, 2013 homicide of Shavar Buckner, 27 of KCMO, at the Suntree Plaza Apartments near Roe Lane and County Line Road in Kansas City, Kan.

Charged are Deon J. Graham, 18 years old, last known to reside at 1132 N. 5th Street, Kansas City, Kan., and Tiara N. Harden, 18 years old, last known to reside at 9235 Kansas Avenue, KCK.

Both are charged with first degree murder of Shavar Buckner, and with aggravated robbery, and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery

The conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery alleges that Graham and Harden conspired together and with Ernest Stamps to rob Buckner.  Stamps and Buckner appear to have exchanged gunfire, and both Stamps and Buckner were killed.

Graham and Harden have been charged with committing crimes, but both are considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Graham and Harden are in the Wyandotte County Jail, in lieu of posting $1,000,000.00 appearance bonds.  Both will likely be in court for first appearance on June 14, 2013.

The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department is investigating.

The investigation continues.
