Man killed in wrong-way accident on I-70 in KCK

KANSAS CITY, KAN. ----- A 35-year-old man was killed in a wrong-way car accident Friday evening in Kansas City, Kan.

Karl Silvey was riding as a passenger in the car of a female when it entered Interstate 70 via an exit ramp. While traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-70, the vehicle was hit by a semi-truck that was traveling east.

The head-on collision killed Silvey, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The woman was injured and transported to a local hospital. She was in critical condition at last report. Her name has not been released by law enforcement.

According to the police, the driver of the semi-truck said the accident was unavoidable.

Police also say that alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
